Schedule Optimizer System (SOS)
Learn moreThe Schedule Optimization System (SOS) was created for service-oriented customers faced with the problem of optimally allocating personnel to operations. SOS was developed as an answer for postal organizations that have the need for a better utilization of personnel under rapidly changing conditions prompted by:
- Mail volume pattern shifts resulted from the usage of information services through the internet
- Process improvements required to utilize emerging mail processing technology
Under the new conditions, traditional scheduling practices became too expensive and inadequate. As a result, Planmatics created SOS based on a linear optimization methodology. With Planmatics' expert engineers and consultants at work, SOS has now been successfully deployed in over six sites of the United States Postal Service.
Project Tracking Portal
Learn morePlanmatics developed a web-based portal to address a multitude of issues facing our client organizations. Some of the problems that were addressed include:
- Processes (including procedures and forms) were not uniformly known throughout the organization's community
- There were no 'readily usable' documents summarizing the organization's experience with plans, procurements, deployments and fielded performance
- While the broad organization strategy was available on the organization's web site, there were no formal channels to extract and communicate the corporate strategy, customer preferences, trends in the product mix, or other related programs to address needed improvements in a manner that "connects" to technical managers in operational or engineering functions.
Value of Portal
- Reduces costs related to adoption of best practices
- Eliminates errors in planning, procurement and deployment
- Compresses cycle time for procurement
- Minimizes change orders
- Shares good designs
- Enhances safety
Equipment Schedule Optimizer (ESO)
Learn moreIn any processing or production environment optimal allocation of personnel to operations and processes is driven by the "equipment operating" schedules. After years of research on how to create optimized "equipment operating" schedules, Planmatics' team of academic experts, software engineers and business analysts developed the Equipment Schedule Optimizer (ESO) that works as a front end to Planmatics' Schedule Optimization System (SOS).
ESO is developed for postal organizations as a solution to a major problem faced by the postal facility managers: development of daily schedules for the equipment used to process varying mail volumes, while meeting critical clearance times.
ESO helps to reduce the facility operating costs, and increase overall efficiency while generating an equipment schedule that is in line with organizational goals.
Internal Benchmarking System (IBS)
Learn morePlanmatics recognized a strong deficiency in performance measurement tools available on the market; no tool was designed to effectively motivate the workforce to their optimum performance potential. In response, Planmatics designed the Internal Benchmarking System, based on Data Envelopment Analysis methodology, to measure employee performance relative to the highest achievers in their unit.
This tool is an effective method for measuring employee performance, given a set of inputs and outputs, on an efficiency basis. By recognizing only the highest performers in the group, and ranking each employee as efficient relative to the highest performer, IBS will help client organizations realize their maximum performance potential. Most performance measurement tools used int he market today create a "performance mean" and create employee expectations based on the organizational performance average. This method is a poor motivational tool in that it only highlights the poorest performers and does little to motivate average or above average achievers. IBS motivates all employees in an organization to achieve their highest performance potential.
IBS is designed to analyze organizational performance on both an internal and external level. Managers will be able to review employee performance within a specific unit, compare this unit to related units acroos the organization, and then compare the organizational performance to broad industry standards. This tool has been proven successful in the international postal community. It is ideally suited for this and other service-based organizations such as banks, schools and labor agencies.
